Welcome to les Jardins Haute Couture
Reportage France 3 - Vous êtes formidables - juin 2024
Our Passion is our Garden
La Couture is a quintessential Touraine manor house B&B that has shape shifted to become a stylish residence for more than passing B&B guests. Due to the precious antique furnishings, as well as the fragile silk and velvet upholstery in all living rooms and bedrooms children under the age of twelve and dogs are not accepted in the B&B.
The exterior of the house has been covered with a pale grey/green trellis work and planted with roses, wisteria, clematis and Bignonias.
A haven for birds, lizards and insects.
Around the house a maze of paths lead to secret gardens, to ponds and startling points of view. Here the structured topiary serves as tower blocks for nesting birds while other flore and fauna have a wide choice of habitation and nourishment, becoming in return the wonderful orchestra of nature's bounty and symphonies.
The house and garden are truly in the Loire valley being tucked into the 'coteau' the craggy limestone cliffs of the Loire valley at its most narrow point.
The vineyards of Bourgueil on one side the vineyards of Chinon on the other. We are in the lee of the Forest of Chinon on one side, by water-meadows of the Loire on the other.
It's a stone’s throw away from some of the world’s most renowned gardens, Chateaux and vineyards.
The Gardens
The Jardins Haute Couture has been awarded the title of Jardin d’exception for biodiversity by the French Ministry of Culture.
The beautiful gardens of Haute Couture grow on ancient terraces tumbling down the hillside to the water meadows known as the Ile St Martin.
These meadows border both the river Indre and the mighty Loire. They are sandwiched between the two rivers as they prepare to join together 3 miles downstream. Higher up the limestone cliffs of the escarpment of the Loire protect the gardens. Their amazing troglodyte dwellings are set into the cliff face
The Loire Valley
Called the Valley of the Kings, the Garden of France and the cradle of the French language the Loire Valley is one of the most beautiful regions in France, perhaps even in the world.
The Loire Valley is the quintessential UNESCO World Heritage site. Its mild, pleasant climate, noble architecture, stirring history, fine wine and food combine to make it the perfect expression of French art de vivre and a microcosm of French culture.
La Couture offers tours of chateaux, gardens, vineyards and the local area (in English, naturally!) English-speaking golf lessons can also be arranged upon request.
